BlackBerry-Z30

BlackBerry’s chance at clawing back smartphone share and mounting any kind of a threat against Android and iOS looks slimmer every time the company announces its sales figures. It seems increasingly likely the Canadian company will eventually have to sell off its smartphone business or turn to Android in an effort to survive.

But despite what you may think, the BlackBerry 10 operating system isn’t a complete write-off. In fact, there are lots things it does incredibly well. Having used it myself for quite a bit over the past 12 months, I’ve compiled a list of five features that I think Google should steal for Android.

Sprint - T-Mobile Merger

Sprint and T-Mobile could be rethinking a possible, according to sources close to the two companies who have been speaking to The Wall Street Journal. SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son is reportedly interested in the deal as well — but not if it is unlikely to be approved.

Nexus-10

Google has reportedly dropped Samsung and reached a deal with HTC over the next-generation Nexus 10, according to unnamed industry sources. The current Nexus 10 hasn’t been quite as successful as its smaller sibling, the Nexus 7, but Google will surely be hoping that HTC’s design expertise can change that.

Xperia Sirius Video -1

The Sony Xperia Sirius is gearing up for a launch later this month, and according to some new leaked screenshots, the smartphone will feature the ability to record videos at 60 frames per second in addition to the standard 30 FPS video recording.

These screenshots also reveal the presence of a 15.5MP manual camera mode with 16:9 aspect ratio and the ability to take 20.7MP and 8MP shots at 4:3 aspect ratios, which should make for great low resolution photos.

App-Ops-CM-11

CyanogenMod 11 users will have the ability to prevent Android apps from automatically starting when their handset launches, thanks to the system’s built-in App Ops feature. The setting was introduced with the most recent nightly builds of CM11 and announced by the CyanogenMod team on Google+.
