Galaxy-Gear-Tizen

Got an original Galaxy Gear? Then you’re in for a treat. Samsung is today rolling out a new update that swaps its Android operating system for the new Tizen platform that ships with the latest Galaxy Gear lineup. It brings better battery life and performance improvements — as well as a number of welcome new features.

HTC’s plan to launch an even better version of its flagship One M8 this year has been “suspended indefinitely,” according to the ever-reliable @Evleaks.

The One M8 “Prime” was expected to bring a much-improved 16-megapixel UltraPixel camera, a bigger and better display, and a new form factor made from “an exotic material” — but it now appears the original M8 will be HTC’s one and only flagship for 2014.

GalaxyS5Mini-13

We’ve already seen one new variant of Samsung’s latest flagship in the new Galaxy S5 Active — and now we await its “mini” sibling. According to one leaker, that’s the device you see in the photographs above and below. It looks identical to its big brother, only smaller — as its name accurately suggests — and it borrows a number of its most exciting features, including the Finger Scanner and water-resistant form factor.

BlackBerry has today begun rolling out its version 2.2 update for BBM, which adds a bunch of new emoticons and makes some nice improvements. Signing up is easier than ever for new BBM users with this release — as is adding new friends to your BBM contacts list.

There’s not a lot we don’t already know about the Galaxy S5 Active thanks to recent leaks, but the new device has today been made official and available to order by AT&T. It’s essentially an original Galaxy S5 packed into a more robust form factor — but it does boast a couple of new features that its flagship sibling doesn’t offer.
