Orange has today launched a new all-in-one communications tool for Android that promises to “change the way you communicate with the people that matter.” Called Libon, the app provides users with free calls, text messages, and a smart visual voicemail service that’s compatible with any wireless network in over 100 countries.

Google will reportedly announce a new Nexus 7 in the coming months — possibly at Google I/O in May — and it’s expected to become a big seller. According to sources in the search giant’s supply chain, 8 million units are expected to ship by the end of 2013.

Google-Glass

Google has been keen to show us what Google Glass can do, and this week the company revealed the specifications behind the magic. In addition to a 5-megapixel camera capably of recording 720p video, the snazzy spectacles will pack 16GB of internal storage, and a 640×360 display that is the “equivalent of a 25 inch high definition screen from eight feet away,” according to Google.

Just as the first prototype units are wending their way out to the initial lucky folks who get to use Google Glass before the rest of us, Google has posted its API for developers to start building apps for this latest wearable tech device.

In an out-of-character move for the Android operating system, Google is prohibiting developers from giving out their apps from anywhere but the official Google-hosted distribution channel. The company is also forbids anyone from adding advertisement or collecting any sort of fee to use said apps.

HipChat is the software we Cult of Android writers use to chat with each other throughout the day. It’s a pretty good solution for communicating with a group of people across different platforms, but the Android app has been lagging behind.

Not so with today’s 2.0 update. HipChat has redesigned its official Android app to feel more like an Android app. The whole goal of the redesign is to “better conform to Android’s latest design guidelines.”
