Back in August, HTC announced the Desire 500 as a variant to its former flagship Android-powered smartphone, the HTC Desire, and now Carphone Warehouse have launched the mid-range handset in the U.K.

The BACtrack breathalyzer has been around since the beginning of this year as an iPhone companion, but it’s now available for Android phones running Jelly Bean 4.3.

Like most other smartphone-connected breathalyzers, BACtrack will measure your blood-alcohol level and tell you, via a companion app, whether you’re too drunk to operate a vehicle, or perhaps heavy machinery, and gives you the option of declaring your level of sobriety (or lack thereof) via social network.

Earlier today, we reported that it looked like Moto Maker was about to make its debut on Verizon and other carriers following AT&T’s period of exclusivity, and now it’s all official.

Motorola announced in a blog post this morning that Moto X customization is now available through all major U.S. carriers, including Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile. The company has also dropped the price of the device to just $99.

Sprint has launched a handful of new Android-powered smartphones today, including Google’s brand new Nexus 5, the LG G2, the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini, and the Samsung Galaxy Mega. All four devices are available online and in Sprint stores.

After Android 4.3 Jelly Bean arrived on the Galaxy S III last month, Galaxy Note II users have been eagerly anticipating an update of their own. And although it hasn’t quite made its way into consumer hands yet, it looks like it is close, with Samsung service centers now getting the release.
