A minor but very useful feature that Google has introduced in Android 4.4 KitKat is screen recording. While the feature can only be used via ADB on the stock KitKat ROM, it was only a matter of time before some custom ROMs and apps provided the same functionality to root users.

The CyanogenMod team, today, is releasing their Screencast app on the Play Store using the beta channel, which allows users to easily record the content on their device screen and as well as their voice via the microphone.

Google has today announced that an additional ten applications for Android and iOS now support Chromecast streaming. VEVO, Red Bull.TV, Songza, and more have been updated to allow users to enjoy news, sports, and music on their $35 dongle.

Who says Google Glass is only good for making you look like a certified dork? Four animators recently got creative with the head-mounted gadget, using Google’s wearable tech to capture imagery for a clever stop-motion video called Catch.

“We shot this entirely on Google Glass over 4 days, with over 1,000 photos and drawings,” write the filmmakers on their YouTube page for Catch. “Made by a group of animator and filmmaker friends here in New York, jamming on the weekends.”

The four filmmakers are Tu Uthaisri, Freddy Arenas, Namroc Doan and Isam Prado. Check out their handiwork above.

LG is said to be working on a mini variant of the G2 that could compete with devices like the Galaxy S4 mini and the HTC One mini. It’ll be a smaller and slightly cheaper version of the flagship device with a 4.7-inch display, but sources say it’ll pack a high-end Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB of RAM.

Viber-Out

Viber, the hugely popular cross-platform messaging service, now offers low-cost calls to mobile phones and landlines worldwide as part of a new service called Viber Out. It’s available on Android, iOS, and though the Viber desktop client, and it boasts call fees substantially cheaper than Skype’s.
