HTC has confirmed that the new HTC One M8 has a hidden “High Performance Mode” that’s activated automatically when it runs a benchmark test. The company says it’s a feature for those with a thirst for power, and it has explained how users can enable it manually if they wish to do so.

The HTC One M8 broke cover roughly a week ago in the U.S., UK and the company’s home region of Taiwan. While there are no sales figures available for its sales in the U.S. or the UK at the moment, retailers in Taiwan are claiming that the smartphone is moving along quite well.
