A new Motorola DROID handset has appeared in early benchmarks ahead of its official unveiling. Codenamed “Kinzie,” the handset boasts Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 810 processor, a super sharp Quad HD display, and a 20-megapixel rear-facing camera.

OnePlus is putting a fingerprint scanner inside its upcoming OnePlus 2, and it promises to be better than any of the scanners we’ve seen on Android devices so far. So good, in fact, that OnePlus claims it’s “faster than Touch ID” on Apple’s iOS devices.

Google will launch a refreshed Nexus 5 alongside its big Android M update this fall, according to a new report. The device is likely to be made by LG — which made the original Nexus 5 — and Google will be hoping it can reverse its declining Nexus sales.

Google has teamed up with the Federal Railroad Administration to bring rail crossing warnings to Google Maps. Every crossing in the U.S. will be added, and drivers will receive alerts while using turn-by-turn directions in the Maps app.

Android fans in the U.S. and other markets have been eagerly awaiting some of Xiaomi’s better devices, which have made the Chinese startup the number one smartphone vendor on its home turf.

Sadly, the company is in no rush to bring any of them to U.S. customers.
