Android 4.0 has made its mark on yet another device, this one being the Sony Xperia Ion for AT&T. This Ice Cream Sandwich update is ready for download, only problem is, you’ll need to download it from Sony. We really hate when they don’t offer an OTA but I guess it’s better than not getting it at all.

Google Play has surpassed an astounding 25 billion app downloads and with Google being the kind of company that enjoys a good celebration, they’ve gone ahead an lined up 5 days worth of $0.25 apps. These discounted apps aren’t just a pile of random garbage either. Some of the Google Play’s top and most recent apps are being offered for a mere quarter — I’d say that’s enough to get anyone searching between their couch cushions for a bit of spare change.

Gameloft is doing what it does best: teasing its upcoming titles. Next on their list is Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour and they’ve released quite the reveal trailer for us to drool over. Being released for Android and iOS this fall, the next installation in the Modern Combat series looks just as intense as the 3rd and chock full of guns, ammo and bloodshed.

Barnes & Noble is looking to spruce up its digital content offerings with Nook Video this fall. Nook Video will offer an easy way for users to buy movies and TV shows directly from the NOOK Store and have them stored safely and securely in the NOOK Cloud. From there, users can watch them on their NOOK, as well as a multitude of devices offering the soon-to-be-released NOOK Video app. Users will also be able to enjoy purchased UltraViolet-enabled movies and TV shows on their devices thanks to UltraViolet account integration with NOOK Cloud.

Security expert Ravi Borgaonkar demoed a serious vulnerability in the way Samsung’s native browser and dialer app handle USSD codes and telephone links at the Ekoparty security conference. As shown by Ravi, malicious code could be used to trigger a factory reset without any forewarning or possible way of stopping it. Even more disturbing is the ability for such malicious code to perform a double whammy and also nuke the device’s SIM.
