After announcing the new One M9 at Mobile World Congress earlier this month, it looks like HTC is set to finally give U.S. customers a release date. The company today began teasing a “BIG” announcement for Wednesday, March 18.

“Going to be an exciting week,” tweeted HTC America president Jason Mackenzie this morning. “In addition to NCAA tourney, HTC has a BIG announcement for US customers on Wednesday.”

The use of the word “big” in capital letters could suggest HTC will announce a larger version of the One M9 — the rumored One M9 Plus. But HTC pulled a similar stunt ahead of MWC; it promised something “HUGE,” but delivered only the One M9.

It seems more likely, then, that we’ll get a U.S. release date for the company’s latest flagship. The One M9 makes its retail debut in HTC’s homeland of Taiwan this week, so we were already anticipating announcements for international markets.

Recent rumors have suggested the device will be available on March 25, exactly one year to the day that the One M8 went on sale. But we’ll have to wait and see. If you’re looking to bag the One M9, it shouldn’t be too far away now.
