Apple And HTC Form Patent Truce

In a surprise turn of events, Apple and HTC have decided to end all ongoing patent disputes in favor of a 10-year licensing agreement. This is the exact kind of resolution courts around the globe have been hoping for from Apple and in fact, have begged for from Apple and Samsung. While there appears to be no such truce in store for Samsung and Apple, this latest bit of news at least shows hope of Apple scaling back on its patent crusade.

Another day, another public humiliation. At least that’s what UK judges have in mind for Apple. After losing a legal claim against Samsung, a London judge ruled that Apple must “correct the damaging impression” caused by their “copycat” claims. The ruling forces Apple to publicly announce — both on their website and with adverts in publications such as the Daily Mail, Financial Times and T3 Magazine — that Samsung had not infringed on its design rights. Apple appealed this decision, of course. However, the judgement stands and the public humiliation must commence as an appeals judge has decided not to overturn the decision.

Clove UK is reporting that the still unannounced black Samsung Galaxy S III will feature 64GB of internal storage, making it the first Galaxy S III model of that capacity. This is great news, considering rumors had the 64GB SG3 version all but dead. Clove is also pointing towards an October launch, which is on par with the 4-6 weeks availability earlier reported by Mobile Fun.

Rumors about a black Samsung Galaxy S III have been circulating for a bit now, but beyond the randomly spotted image or two, nothing has been confirmed. That was, until today. U.K. retailer Mobile Fun is the first to announce a price and release date for this now confirmed device.

It’s appearing as the global launch for the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 will take place the day after the August 15th U.S. event in NYC. This is the second region we’re seeing listed as getting the Note 10.1 on August 16th and so we’re just going to assume the 16th is the magic date.
