Sprint has announced today that it is set to acquire 100% ownership of Clearwire in a deal worth $2.97 per share — or roughly $2.2 billion. The carrier says it plans to utilize Clearwire’s 2.5 GHz spectrum, which will be migrated to 4G LTE standards, to achieve “operational efficiencies and improved service for customers.”

In case you haven’t heard, Jelly Bean began rolling out to the Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE today. Not only does it bring all the goodies of Android 4.1.1, but it also includes Sense 4+ — for those of you that are into that sort of thing. If the update hasn’t hit your device yet, you might want to head over to Settings>System updates>HTC Software Update>Check now and give that a go.

Best Buy is reportedly gearing up to reduce the Samsung Galaxy S III — this year’s hottest Android-powered smartphone — to just $50 on December 16. That’s a massive reduction to the Korean company’s most successful smartphone, and it most cases it’ll get you at least $100 off its regular retail price.

Coming sooner than you might think.


The Big Four US mobile carriers–AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, and T-Mobile–have just sent out a press release committing to push the issue of text to 911 capabilities, hopefully sooner than, but at least by, 2014.

These major players, plus The 911 Association and the Association for Public-Safety Communications Officials International, have decided to work together on standards and procedures to make this happen with a seamless transition to text to 911 services across the US.

A leaked Sprint holiday ad has outed an upcoming deal that some of you may want to take advantage of. Starting this Friday, December 7, and running through December 24, Sprint will be offering BOGO (Buy One Get One) deals on select Samsung Galaxy smartphones.
