The Ice Cream sandwich rollouts are beginning to make the rounds as we get closer to the summer months, and today, Sony has started pushing out Android 4.0 to the Xperia Arc and Xperia Neo. So far, Sony has kept their promise of updates, with the exception of the Xperia PLAY, which had to be canned after extensive testing proved the release to be unstable. Not only has the Xperia Arc and Neo begun receiving Ice Cream Sandwich, but a slew of other devices which were previously updated to 4.0.3, are now being bumped up to Android 4.0.4.
It looks like Ice Cream Sandwich will be getting a .000001% increase on the Android distribution chart thanks to Sony. Sony has announced the availability of Android 4.0 for their Tablet S and if you happen to be a proud owner of this uniquely designed tablet, you should have the update waiting for you the next time you connect to Wi-Fi. Sony highlights a few of the features Tablet S users will be gaining with the update to Ice Cream Sandwich:
The Sony Tablet S does things different for Android tablets, but does it do them differently enough?
One of the first things you’ll notice about the Sony Tablet S is its design. It’s not flat, but a wedge that fits comfortably into the hand, like a magazine with its cover folded back. The Tablet S looks wholly unlike any other tablet on the market. It’s something original, something that instead of simply trying to be an iPad knock-off has its own distinct design language. And it’s without a doubt the best thing about the Sony Tablet S. It’s just a shame that this brave and wonderful sense of identity in a sea of iPad clones is only skin deep.
Last month, Sony announced they would be opening the Playstation Suite SDK Beta sometime in April and guess what, it’s April and that sometime is today. Developers will now be able to grab the open beta and start working on games and apps for Playstation certified devices such as the Xperia Play, Xperia Arc, Xperia S, and not to mention Sony’s newest handheld the PS Vita.
