CyanogenMod

The latest stable release of CyanogenMod 11 M9 is available to download now, and in addition to bringing a whole bunch of new features and improvements, it adds support for two new smartphones — the HTC One M8 and the Sony Xperia Z2. This is the first stable (non-nightly) CyanogenMod release for both of these devices.

HP is probably the last company you’d expect to make a genuinely good-looking smartwatch, but it appears to have done that with a little help from Gilt and fashion designed Michael Bastian. The company’s upcoming wearable, which it teased for the first time today, will deliver a custom operating system that’s compatible with both Android and iOS.

Samsung’s first metal smartphone won’t be an even better version of the Galaxy S5 with a faster processor and a sharper display, according to a new report. Instead, it will be the Galaxy Alpha, a brand new handset that will combine a more premium form factor with midrange specifications when it makes its debut on August 4.

It certainly looks like Sony is having difficulty keeping its upcoming flagship smartphone of 2014 under wraps. So far its appeared in a handful of leaked press renders, been the subject of an alleged specification sheet, passed through the Federal Communications Commission not once, but twice, and earlier today starred in two new images ostensibly revealing one of the handset’s sides and its back panel.

Last week, an unannounced Sony-branded smartphone bearing model number D6603 passed through the United States of America’s official certification authority, the FCC, and now a similar device has been spotted in a separate filing with identical documentation, strongly indicating that it’s more than likely the European version of the Japanese company’s upcoming flagship smartphone — the Xperia Z3 (D6653).
