More than half a million Android smartphones across the U.S. and Europe have been infected by malware distributed by SMS, new research has found. Once the malicious software is installed, it is used to access all of the data stored on your phone that hackers might be interested in — including your text messages, call logs, contacts list, and even your photos.

Google has issued a workaround that finally allows Android Wear users to install paid applications on their new wearables. It comes days after early adopters of the LG G Watch and the Samsung Gear Live discovered that they could only install free Android Wear apps on their devices due to a Play Store security feature meant to curb piracy.

If you’re flying into or out of the United Kingdom, you’d better make sure your Android or iOS handset is fully charged. With the U.S. government recently announcing that all airline passengers with personal electronics devices will now be required to turn them on to prove that they work, the U.K.’s Department for Transport has announced that the same rules will now apply in the United Kingdom.

The new ruling follows reports that terrorists may be able to use phones and electronic devices as a conveyor of explosives that can get around current security checks.

Data breaches are becoming more and more prevalent amongst major companies,  Spotify is the most recent to suffer the nasty consequences of what could have been a byproduct of the recent Heartbreak virus.

Earlier today, the folks over at the music-streaming service announced that, unfortunately, there had been some unauthorised access to its systems and internal company data. Fortunately, only one customer’s non-sensitive account data was accessed, but the service is taking extreme care to ensure other users are not affected.

Pushbullet

Pushbullet has acknowledged a major security concern with its popular Android app and promised to make improvements in future updates.

The company is working hard to implement the OAuth authorization framework to provide users with limited and revocable API keys that will make their data more secure — but it insists that your data is safe in the meantime just as long as you don’t share your existing key.
