Biggest-Flops-2013

It’s not too difficult to look back over the last 12 months and pick out a whole host of consumer tech products that were a great success — they’re the ones we all remember, after all. But what about those that didn’t do so well.

We’ve put together a list of the biggest tech flops from 2013 — 7 devices and services that were supposed to be big, but just couldn’t cut it. We’ll start with the overwhelming failure of the HTC First, the first Facebook-powered smartphone.

An unconfirmed Samsung smartphone has passed through the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The information included in the brief filing documentation reveals that we could potentially be looking at the Galaxy Grand Lite — a scaled down variant to the Grand 2 that was introduced to the South Korean company’s lineup of affordable handsets last month.

Having taken the holidays off (in Samsung’s case to nurse its wounds), Apple and Samsung are back to patent negotiations.

According to an article which appeared Sunday in The Korea Times, the two companies have resumed their patent battle — with officials at the Fair Trade Commission saying the companies are looking to hash out issues related to royalties.

Galaxy Tab 3 10.1

In keeping with the holiday spirit, Argos Online is currently selling the Wi-Fi edition of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1-inch for £279 (approximately $457) — that’s a pretty impressive saving of £50.99 ($83.55). Galaxy Tab 3 7.0

Samsung unveiled its scaled-down portable Galaxy Tab 3 variant, the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0, back in April, 2013, and three months later the device was available to purchase in the United States from several independent retailers for $199. However, if you haven’t had the opportunity or the wherewithal to pick one up before now, it might be of interest for you to know that Best Buy is currently offering the slate with a $30 discount.
