There are a number of reasons why the Fire Phone was destined to be a flop, but perhaps the biggest was its price tag. At $199 on a two-year contract when it first made its debut, the device was as expensive as the Galaxy S5, even though its specifications weren’t as good.

Now Amazon’s senior vice president of devices has conceded that the retail giant made a mistake with Fire Phone pricing.

Android has yet again increased its lead in U.S. market share as its rivals give up precious points, according to the latest data from Kantar WorldPanel. Google’s popular platform now commands an impressive 61.8 percent share of the smartphone market, which is close to double the 32.6 percent now held by iOS.

HTC’s Sense user interface is set to get a Material Design makeover for Android 5.0 Lollipop, leaked screenshots have confirmed. The Taiwanese company’s upcoming Sense 7 release will sport a fancy new font and new color schemes, improving its already impressive user interface design.

LG’s flagship G3 will get an Android 5.0 Lollipop update later this quarter, the South Korean company has confirmed. Last year’s G2 will also get the same treatment, but it will have to wait until “a later date.”

Samsung could be understood for questioning the brand loyalty of its South Korean fans: iPhone 6 and 6 Plus have reportedly racked up a massive 100,000 preorders since going on sale in the country Friday. That’s more than three times the number of South Korean preorders for Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4.
