Samsung as good as pioneered the “bigger is better” approach to mobile device display size, so what do you do when Apple plans to launch a 12.9-inch iPad to compete with your Galaxy Note Pro 12.2? Build a bigger tablet, of course.

According to new reports coming out of Korea, Samsung is planning to launch a new 13-inch tablet by the end of the year. Although details currently remain scarce, it is reported that Samsung may adopt an LCD display for its 13-inch tablet, rather than the Super AMOLED used for devices like the Galaxy Tab S series.

There’s no good reason why the Galaxy S4 wouldn’t have received an Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade — it’s perfectly capable of running it — but just in case you were worried that your handset might be left out of Samsung’s upgrade plans, the South Korean company has put your mind at ease.

It’s highly unlikely Samsung will bring the Galaxy Note 4’s awesome new features to older Note handsets — especially not one as old as the Note 2. But it doesn’t have to, because the handset still has strong support from third-party developers, who have taken it upon themselves to bring a long list of Note 4 apps and features to the two-year-old phablet.

Samsung made phablet fans in the U.S. wait a while for the Galaxy Note 4, and they’ve been waiting even longer for its peculiar brother, the Galaxy Note Edge. But the South Korean company has today confirmed that the Note Edge will be arriving in the U.S. this month, with AT&T first to kick off sales this week.
