The official Twitter for Android client — even after its new Holo-fied update — is terrible. It takes ages to load new tweets, does not make use of expandable notifications on Jelly Bean devices, and the color scheme is an eye-sore.

Thankfully, the Play Store is now filled with a bunch of polished and feature-filled third-party Twitter clients that are much better than the official client in almost every way. To help you pick the best one for you, we’ve compiled a list of our favorites.

Many Android users would have been informed of an update for Google Voice earlier today, as soon as I saw the notification I instantly thought Babel had arrived. However, I couldn’t have been more wrong. The update brings “improved the reliability of SMS delivery.” But if Google Voice is an IM client, shouldn’t the SMS delivery have been stable in the first place?

Google Search received an update earlier this week, bringing users new features such as package tracking, rapid feedback, and settings information on cards. Google has also redesigned the display of cards in the notification center — prior to this update the cards stood out a bit like a sore thumb, but now they blend in elegantly.

The Nexus 7 has spontaneously appeared on the Google Play store in India, without any official announcement from Google. You can purchase the 7-inch slate for Rs. 15,999 (about $290), with shipping expected to take place by April 5.

A few weeks ago, Canonical released the first look of Ubuntu for phones, and soon after released developer preview builds for the Nexus devices from Google. While the OS in itself is not yet ready for consumers, the preview build does show off the interesting gesture based UI that Canonical has come up with.

One of the highlights of Ubuntu for phones is the app launcher that comes up with a simple swipe from the left edge of the screen, allowing you to quickly launch an app from anywhere in the OS.
