As is typical of Verizon every holiday season, they have gone ahead and updated their return policy to reflect an extended period for holiday purchases. Any new device purchased from Verizon between November 22 and December 25, 2012 may be returned or exchanged through January 15, 2013.

When Android 4.1 was released, Google introduced it’s own sound search widget to help users identify songs and direct them to Google Play to purchase them. It’s basically Google’s version of Soundhound or Shazam. It’s a great feature to have built into Android and it’s even better now that it’s built right into Google search. Now, Google has decided to release the standalone widget onto the Play store so that users running Android 4.0 can also enjoy it.

It looks like our friends across the pond may be getting Google Play gift cards just in time for the holidays. UK user Lee Jarratt reported on Google+ that he no longer gets the dreaded “gift cards aren’t available in this Country.” Instead, he’s now directed to the redemption code page. The redemption page clearly shows Play balances in UK currency and has us thinking the purchase of Play credit might not be far off.

Motorola no longer has its sight solely on Apple as they’ve now turned their attack towards Android’s top dog Samsung. Motorola’s latest ad campaign pits the Motorola RAZR HD against the Samsung Galaxy S III, with a slogan of “It’s not easy. downloading… from another galaxy.” Motorola boasts an outrageous claim of 49% faster download speeds, which I find extremely difficult to believe considering the U.S. Samsung Galaxy S III has the same Qualcomm processor and modem as the RAZR HD — not to mention 1GB more RAM.

Netflix video streaming remains one of the largest sources of peak downstream Internet traffic in the US. With over 1 billion hours of Netflix being watched per month, it’s safe to say they have a pretty good idea of the strains their service puts on ISPs. In fact, Netflix has been keeping tabs and gauging these ISPs to see just how well they perform.
