Moto X Developer Edition Coming Soon

Motorola has updated its official Moto X “Ways To Buy” web page, showing off its brand new Developer Edition of the Google-owned company’s flagship smartphone. This limited edition version of the handset features a black front panel combined with a white woven backplate, inscribed with the words “DEVELOPER EDITION” on the bottom.

If you’re planning to pick up a new smartphone from AT&T this weekend, you now have the latest offerings from HTC, Samsung, and Motorola to choose from. The carrier today added the One mini, the Galaxy Mega 6.3, and the Moto X to its lineup — all of which are now available online and in store.

Motorola-Touchless-Control-app Motorola’s Touchless Control app, which allows you to control your smartphone using only your voice, is now available to download from Google Play. You can use it to set alarms, get directions, find answers to questions, “or do just about anything” — without having to touch your phone at all.

There is one caveat, however. The app’s only available on the Moto X, the Droid Ultra, the Droid Mini, and the Droid Maxx.

One of the best and most popular features on Motorola’s flagship smartphone, the Moto X, is its Active Display functionality which automatically displays important notifications on the lock screen without any user input. This attribute was a Moto X exclusive at launch, and in no time at all a replica was developed exclusively for Android 4.3 users, which has now been tweaked for a second time and is available to download on any Android 4.0+ device.

Motorola has confirmed that it will not be offering custom engraving for the Moto X when it goes on sale this Friday, August 23. The company insists that it will “make it happen” later on, but it’s currently unclear how long customers may be waiting.
