Moto-X-colors

Earlier today, we reported that it looked like Moto Maker was about to make its debut on Verizon and other carriers following AT&T’s period of exclusivity, and now it’s all official.

Motorola announced in a blog post this morning that Moto X customization is now available through all major U.S. carriers, including Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile. The company has also dropped the price of the device to just $99.

AT&T’s exclusivity on Moto Maker for the Moto X appears to be close to an end after the customization tool popped up on Verizon’s website over the weekend. Recent rumors have claimed that Moto Maker will be available through other carriers from this week, and Verizon’s apparent slip-up seems to confirm that.

The upcoming Android 4.4 KitKat update for the T-Mobile Moto X has been leaked ahead of its official release. It comes less than a week after Google announced KitKat’s release, and early reports suggest it works surprisingly well.

A bunch of rumors have been bandied around over the course of the past three months, implying that Motorola is in the process of developing a new budget friendly, low-end Moto X variant, dubbed the DVX. However, a leaked upcoming magazine clipping reveals that the device will, in fact, be called the “Moto G” and is set to pack some pretty mediocre internals.

Motorola is in the process of pushing out a largely-requested update via Google Play for the official Moto X camera application. The upgrade brings a brightened camera viewfinder, a Quick Capture mode for Enterprise users and a truckload of stability improvements and bug fixes. So, all-in-all it’s a pretty significant update that we would advise all Moto X owners to download.
