Following rumors claiming that Verizon would soon be offering Motorola’s scaled-down variant to its flagship smartphone, the Moto G, for just $99.99 on a prepaid card tariff, Best Buy has issued a statement confirming that it will now be selling the Big Red branded handset in all of its nationwide retail stores.

With the Moto X, Motorola has been trying to solve the issues that consumers face in day to day life, instead of focusing on the irrelevant spec war. Thanks to consumer feedback, the company changed its warranty policies and started posting factory images for its developer edition devices.

The company is not stopping there though, and after listening to consumer feedback of wanting a premium smartphone at a reasonable price and the success of its holiday flash sales, it has decided to drop the off-contract price of the Moto X.

When your smartphone’s biggest selling point is its customization options, you need to get a little creative with your print ads. And that’s exactly what Motorola has done for the Moto X. In the January edition of Wired magazine, the company has a full-page ad with built-in LED lights that allows you to change the color of the Moto X printed on the page.

Motorola is in the midst of pushing out the recently-announced Android 4.4.2 KitKat update to all of its U.S. and global Moto G variants. As well as the bump up to 4.4.2, this particular upgrade also brings supports for Square credit card reader and Wi-Fi printing, in addition to a multitude of bug fixes and stability improvements.

Motorola is finally selling the Moto X with a bamboo backplate, but it will cost you $100 more than the all-plastic model. The company introduced the new panel late on Tuesday evening, and it seems it has already been incredibly popular, with shipping dates scheduled for early January.
