LG-Optimus-4X-HD-L7-L9

LG is known for being a little slow when it comes to issuing Android updates, but fortunately for three of the devices in its 2012 Optimus lineup, Jelly Bean is on its way. The Korean company has confirmed on its LG Hong Kong Facebook page that the Optimux 4X HD, the Optimus L7, and the Optimus L9 will all get Android 4.2 “in the first half” of 2013.

Google is expected to release its Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update later this month, making performance and stability improvements that will first arrive on the Nexus 4, the Nexus 7, the Nexus 10, and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. It’s likely to be the last Jelly Bean update Google releases before announcing Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie in May.

Samsung has today added another two smartphones to its Galaxy family in the form of the Galaxy Fame and the Galaxy Young. Both mid-range devices are to offer Android on a budget, and their optional dual-SIM capabilities make them ideal for those who frequently use their smartphones for both work and play. Samsung will be showcasing the devices at Mobile World Congress later this month, but we have the full specifications for both below.

Mobile chip maker Qualcomm has inadvertently confirmed the spring unveiling of Key Lime Pie — the next-generation of Android — in a leaked document that details the development of Google’s platform. We had expected Google’s announcement to come at Google I/O in May anyway, but this should quash any doubts you may have had.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus LTE, the first Nexus device to offer 4G LTE connectivity, has been discontinued by Verizon Wireless just over a year after it was released. The carrier is no longer offering the device online or in-store, and so the only way to bag one now would be to look for a secondhand model.
