Larry Page, a Google co-founder, accepted the position of CEO in April of 2011.

Late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs famously said that he intended to wage “thermonuclear war” on Android. The rift between Apple and Google has been growing wider over the years, and the two companies have essentially become sworn enemies in most areas of business.

In an interesting profile by Bloomberg Businessweek, current Google CEO Larry Page says that Steve Jobs’ public defamation of Android was “for show” to rally Apple around its obvious enemy. Page also talks about topics like the current state of Google, the Motorola acquisition, and more.

Disclaimer: This in no way represents the views of iPhone or iOS users as a whole, and believe it or not, I even have a few (very few) iFriends who are happy to let me rummage through their trash for half eaten caviar.

I couldn’t make this shit up even if I wanted to. Our fine sister site (love you guys!) Cult of Mac came across a whole slew of elitist douchebaggary from iPhone users who aren’t thrilled about having to share their Instagram country club with us “poor,” “ghetto,” Android users. I’m not going to lie, this is the first time I’ve ever heard Android users compared to ghetto poor people. I always thought we were considered “geeks” or “nerdy teenagers,” but “ghetto and poor,” —- that’s a new one. I don’t know about you, but my Galaxy Nexus cost $649.99 — and no, Verizon wouldn’t accept my food stamps as payment. You’re always going to have a few bad apples (see what I did there) in the group and the one’s you’re about to see take the orchard.

Android maintains its overall lead in the U.S. market while the iPhone gains ground

Smartphones are close to becoming the primary type of mobile phones sold in the U.S. for the first time. Market research giant Neilsen’s latest analysis of the mobile industry shows that about half of all mobile phone owners in the country now own a smartphone – up significantly from this time last year.

In addition to smartphones gaining major traction, the company also released its data on the makeup of the U.S. smartphone market that shows gains by Apple’s iPhone and significant losses for RIM’s BlackBerry. Android, however, still manages to hold the biggest share of the market overall.

The newest fake Android store in China sells the new iPhone

Those clever Chinese people are great at copying anything. Fake iPhones. Fake Louis Vuitton bags. Fake Gucci sweaters. Fake Disneyland. The list is endless. We’ve even seen quite a few fake Apple Stores pop-up in China over the years. Some even looked like an exact replica of the real thing. Well now some clever Chinese citizens have moved on and are now opening up fake Android stores. The only problem is, Android phones don’t sell so well, so they sell genuine iPhones and iPads

In the latest patent war saga, a Dutch court ruled that Samsung cannot assert 3G patents against Apple products using Qualcomm’s baseband chips — as Samsung has a licensing deal with the U.S. chipmaker — thus denying their bid to ban the sales of the iPhone and iPad in the Netherlands. However, Samsung didn’t consider the ruling a complete loss as the Hague court also ruled that Samsung could seek damages over the use of Intel chips. While Apple doesn’t use Intel chips, this gives Samsung ammunition against those that do.
