It took less than 60 minutes for HTC One “Google edition” rumors to begin circulating after Google announced the Galaxy S4 with stock Android at Google I/O last Wednesday. HTC was quick to dismiss those rumors and state that it had no plans for such a device, but according to one source, that’s false.

They claim an HTC One with stock Android is in the works, and that it’ll launch this summer.

Japanese carrier KDDI has today unveiled the HTC J One, a new HTC One variant that packs a number of features the original doesn’t have. In addition to a microSD card slot that allows users to add an additional 64GB of storage, the J One also offers additional camera features.

Ever since the release of the HTC One, back in March 2013, HTC have encountered many production issues. A week after release, HTC suffered some major setbacks due to camera component shortages, and now they’re looking to speed up production of their latest flagship device.

Google-WalletFollowing its mammoth I/O keynote yesterday, which saw a number of services updated and new ones introduced, Google has added support for a number of additional devices — including the latest flagships from Samsung and HTC — to its Google Wallet app for Android.

Nearly three in every four smartphones sold during the first quarter of 2013 were running Android, according to the latest statistics from the analysts at Gartner. Google’s operating system grabbed a whopping 74% of the market share during the three-month period, while Apple’s iOS came in second with 18.2%.

Companies choosing to build Windows Phone, BlackBerry, and Symbian powered devices might want to look away now.
