Thanks to a number of spectacular smartphones and some super cheap tablets, Android adoption continues to rise. According to Google chairman Eric Schmidt, who is speaking at AllThingsD’s Dive Into Mobile conference today, 1.5 million Android devices are being activated each and every day.

Google will reportedly announce a new Nexus 7 in the coming months — possibly at Google I/O in May — and it’s expected to become a big seller. According to sources in the search giant’s supply chain, 8 million units are expected to ship by the end of 2013.

Google has been keen to show us what Google Glass can do, and this week the company revealed the specifications behind the magic. In addition to a 5-megapixel camera capably of recording 720p video, the snazzy spectacles will pack 16GB of internal storage, and a 640×360 display that is the “equivalent of a 25 inch high definition screen from eight feet away,” according to Google.
