Millions of Galaxy S3 owners were understandably upset when their handset was absent from a recent list of Samsung devices set to get a KitKat upgrade — but it seems there’s still hope for the two-year-old handset.
According to a leaked Samsung document obtained by an “unnamed insider,” the South Korean company is quietly readying an Android 4.4 upgrade for the Galaxy S3 that is scheduled to arrive as early as next month.
Samsung unveiled the scaled-down variant of its former flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S3, back in October, 2012, and a month later the handset was available in the U.S. from Amazon for $599.99. However, if you haven’t had the opportunity or the wherewithal to pick one up before now, it may be of interest to you to know that the popular online retailer is currently offering the device with a $363.00 discount.
Samsung unveiled its former flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S3, back in May, 2012, and two weeks after its announcement the handset was available in the U.K. from several retailers for £479.99. However, if you haven’t had the opportunity or the wherewithal to pick one up before now, it may be of interest to you to know that the popular online retailer, Very, is currently offering the device with a £194 discount.
The Samsung Galaxy S III’s Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update, which first started reaching international handsets on November 4, is now rolling out in the United Kingdom. It will reach unlocked and unbranded handsets first, and users will be able to download and install it over-the-air or via Samsung’s KIES app for Mac and PC.
