Two Everything-Proof LifeProof Cases Now Available for Galaxy S3

It’s been a long time coming, but the waterproof, shockproof, modular LifeProof phone cases has evolved from their iDevice origins and now protect their first Android phone, the Samsung Galaxy S3.

Two models of the LifeProof case have arrived for the Galaxy S3 this week: The Fre, the original case from LifeProof; and the Nuud, which is similar to the Fre but is free of a screen protector and allows unobstructed access to the S3’s screen. LifeProof says these cases are the thinnest and lightest fully protective cases yet made for the S3.

By now the abilities of the ubiquitous LifeProof should be well-known. If not, here’s the skinny: Just like its iPhone siblings, each S3 model is equipped with a gasket that completely seals out dust and makes it waterproof two meters (6.6 feet), is shockproof to a drop height of two meters and adds a “camera-grade,” anti-reflective glass lens over the phone’s camera lens.

About the only thing missing, unfortunately, are the accessories — no bike mount, belt clip, floatation cushion or other augmentation is yet available for the S3 versions.

The LifeProof Fre is $80, while the Nuud is $90. Both cases are available now, either directly from LifeProof or at Best Buy.
