Samsung is expected to announce a cheaper Galaxy Note III “Lite” alongside the high-end flagship at next week’s Unpacked event in Berlin. The South Korean company reportedly wants to make the Note series more accessible, so it has developed a second model with lesser specifications.

Galaxy Gear, Samsung’s first Android-powered smartwatch, will be unveiled alongside the Galaxy Note III next week, according to a senior Samsung executive.

Lee Young-hee, executive vice president of the South Korean company’s mobile business, has confirmed to The Korea Times that the new “wearable concept device” will be announced on September 4, and she’s confident it will be a big success.

Now that the Galaxy S4 is here — in a number (too many) of different forms — we’re all wondering when Samsung’s going to unveil its other big seller, the next-generation Galaxy Note III. We know it will come sometime later this year, but when?

According to one Korean news outlet, citing “industry sources,” we’ll see it on September 4 — two days before the start of IFA 2013 in Berlin — and it will be accompany by “GEAR,” Samsung’s first Android-powered smartwatch.

Samsung appears to be gearing up to launch yet another threat against the iPad with two new slates that’ll boast mouthwatering 2560×1600 displays.
