We got a glimpse of NVIDIA’s new Tegra 4 back in December, when a leaked slide detailing its specifications began circulating the Internet. But the company has now made the impressive chip official at CES 2013 in Las Vegas. Designed for mobile devices like smartphones and tablets, the Tegra 4 boasts a super speedy quad-core Cortex-A15 processor and 72-core graphics, making it the “world’s fastest mobile processor.”

Early this month, we told you about some mysterious benchmarks that indicated Asus was working on a new budget tablet, codenamed the ME172V. However, we couldn’t confirm whether they were genuine. Now they’ve been backed up by some images of the devices published by a Russian retailer.

Google and Asus are said to be “making headway” on a cheaper Nexus 7 that’s expected to launch as early as the first quarter of 2013. O-Film Tech, a touchscreen maker based in China, has reportedly been tasked with producing its display, which is to utilize “glass-film-film” (GFF) technology that will help cut production costs.

Remember that ASUS Nexus 7 dock we showed you last month? You know, the one that’s supposed to go on sale in Japan this month? Well, looks like some lucky fella got one early and did what any sensible guy would do — unboxed it on YouTube to make us all jealous.

It’s always tough to tell just how well a device is selling, but one method of gauging a devices success is how many are continuing to be manufactured. According to a DigiTime report, Taiwan-based supply chain makers are expecting sales of the Google Nexus 7 to exceed one million units in the month of December.
