Could this be a $99 Nexus 7?

Asus has been enjoying plenty of success with the Nexus 7, which continues to sell out on the Google Play Store as we approach the holiday season. It’s no surprise, then, that the Taiwanese company is working on another budget Android tablet. According to new benchmarks, the device will run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on a mysterious 1GHz processor.

One accessory that always seems to be absent from the Nexus line is a quality docking station — Galaxy Nexus owners know exactly what I’m talking about. With a couple new Nexus devices now on the market, the question is raised once again: “when will there be a docking station for my Nexus < ---- input nexus model here ?

Winning?

Android tablets have grabbed 14 percent of tablet market share, according to new research. While Apple’s iPad is still king, with up to 55 percent of third-quarter tablet shipments, tablets running the Google Android system are gaining ground, and fast.

ABI Research found data that shows the iPad losing more of its dominant position to Android competitors, as reported on CNET today. The iPad is showing a decline of 14 percent, the lowest its been since the iPad was introduced two years ago. Samsung, Amazon, and Asus tablets were among the tablet manufacturers that account for that Android increase, with the Google operating system powering over 44 percent of all tablets shipped.

We reported on the Android 4.2.1 update for the Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 earlier today, and now, it appears the “December update” is rolling out to the Nexus 7 as well.

Quite a few Nexus 7 owners found themselves the victims of early adopter syndrome after ASUS and Google announced they’d be dropping the price of the 16GB model to $199 and introducing a 32GB model for $249. As you can imagine, there were a lot of unhappy people. Personally, I don’t fret about it too much, considering my purchase came with $25 worth of Play credit. However, not everyone received this credit and ASUS realizes this. Although they don’t owe anyone anything, they have been kind enough to offer a ₤25 credit to their online store for European customers who happened to purchase their Nexus 7 prior to October 30th.
