Those of you who pre-ordered your 7-inch Kindle Fire HD tablet will be happy to know it is now shipping. It has also shed its pre-order tag and is now available for instant purchase and delivery (well, as instant as Amazon can make it). Amazon has made a lot of improvements to their Kindle Fire line and set the bar for tablet makers to come. With a sub $200 price tag, it’s hard to argue against a tablet that offers:

Yesterday, Amazon held an event to announce its new line of Kindles. They had some impressive features, decent specs, but best of all — an incredible price. If you don’t feel like reading all about it and would rather watch the video of yesterday’s event, you’re in luck. Amazon has uploaded the full video to YouTube as well as their press site. Don’t feel like switching pages? Then just watch is here after the break. Cheers!

Jeff Bezos was so proud of himself today when he announced the new Kindle Fire HD line to anxious journalists crammed inside an airport hanger. He was quick to point out the success of the original Kindle Fire and even decided to go as far as denouncing Android tablets as “gadget that nobody wants.” His exact remark was:

“Customers are smart. Last year, there were more than two dozen Android tablets launched into the marketplace, and nobody bought ‘em. Why? Because they’re gadgets, and people don’t want gadgets anymore. They want services that improve over time. They want services that improve every day, every week, and every month.”

I have numerous issues with the statement he made and I’ll tell you why.

Amazon dropped a few bombs on us today with its new Kindle Fire HD line. Not only will they be following up with another 7-inch model, but they’ve added in a larger 8.9-inch model for good measure. The event ended not too long ago and I have to admit — I’m impressed. The specs and features were well enough to have me intrigued, but when they laid out the pricing, I was stoked. I may end up an Amazon convert, we’ll have to see.

If you had any doubts about Amazon announcing its next Kindle line at its September 6th press event, you won’t now. Amazon is clearly lining up its ducks as they have just released their App Store to the European market as well as listing their best selling device, the Kindle Fire, as “Sold Out.”
