DeNA, the social gaming company that now owns ngmoco, just launched a new, free, 8-bit retro role-playing game, D.O.T. Defender of Texel, to the iTunes App Store and the Google Play store.

Texel is a world made of dots, at the end of a wormhole, waiting for you to jump in and save the world. The battles are turn-based, and you choose who will fight each battle by swiping across a grid of characters to place your fighters on the battle field.

President Obama will be officially sworn into office for his second term on Monday, January 21st at the nation’s capital. If you can’t be in DC to witness the event, The Presidential Inaugural Committee has you covered with a dedicated app for your Android handset or iPhone.

The free Inaugural 2013 app is available for free in both Google Play and the App Store.

Archos-GamePad

Archos launched its GamePad tablet in Europe back in December, and the company took the device to the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas last week to show it off on the other side of the Atlantic. It has now confirmed that the device will make its debut in the United States in February, priced at a very reasonable $169.

Samsung has begun rolling out Android 4.1 Jelly Bean to two of its tablet in the United States. The Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 and the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 both began receiving the upgrade over the weekend, following its debut on European devices. As you’d expect, this software comes with a whole host of new features and improvements.

Asus-MeMO-Pad-colors

With the Consumer Electronics Show now over for another year, manufacturers who didn’t set up a booth at the event are free to unveil new devices again. Asus has become one of the first with the unveiling of its new MeMO Pad, a 7-inch Android tablet that looks a lot like the Nexus 7. Priced at $149, the device will begin shipping later this month.
