After locking down the bootloader of its devices in 2011, HTC faced strong community backlash. This led to the company to release a web-based bootloader unlocking tool in an effort to appease users. Since then, the bootloader of any Android device from HTC (except for some of the carrier variants sold in the United States) can be completely unlocked in just a few simple steps.

It is not possible to gain root access on any of the HTC’s Android device without unlocking the bootloader first. While the process might be an added inconvenience for some, the whole process is pretty trivial and does not require more than 5 minutes. Here’s how to do it.

Samsung has today confirmed that its new Galaxy Tab 3 family will be available in the United States starting July 7. The Galaxy Tab 3 7.0, the smallest of the three devices, is also the cheapest at $199, while the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 and the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 will cost $299 and $399 respectively.

Imgur has today launched its official Android app via Google Play. The free download brings all of your favorite Imgur features to your mobile device, including the ability to browse viral images, comment and vote on images, and upload images directly from your smartphone.

A Samsung insider has reportedly confirmed that the Galaxy Note III will enter mass production this August ahead of a third quarter release. As a result, they said suppliers are less likely to feel the reduction in Galaxy S4 orders in July, which is said to be as much as 20-30%.

Google has pulled a fake BlackBerry Messenger app from Google Play after it was downloaded by over 100,000 users who thought it was the real thing. The app was called “blackberry messenger bbm,” and it was created by a developer called “RIM.” But all it did was install icons, bookmarks, and more from advertising network StartApp.
