Earlier today, we reported that HP was planning a new Slate6 smartphone aimed at emerging markets, which we expected to make its debut at Mobile World Congress next month — but now the company has made it official, alongside the Slate7.

HP doesn’t like it if you call the new devices smartphones, though — they’re “VoiceTabs” instead, and they’re designed for the “next generation of mobile customers” who are “looking to consolidate their phones and tablets” into one.

Struggling to make any significant progress with its BlackBerry 10 app catalog, BlackBerry has turned to Android developers to plug the gaping holes. The Canadian company has reportedly been courting Android app makers as it looks to provide its users with direct access to Android apps through BlackBerry World.

AT&T has today begun rolling out the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active. The 721MB release, which sports build number “I537UCUBML2,” adds Galaxy Gear compatibility, user interface improvements, and the ability to drag and drop to uninstall or disable apps.

International LG G2 owners are in for a treat over the coming weeks after LG’s official Twitter account for Saudi Arabia confirmed that the device will get its Android 4.4 KitKat update this month. Those in other markets are expected to receive the update around the same time.

Moto-G-customizable-backs

The Moto X and G both run on near stock Android with with just a few minor modifications. However, that has not stopped developers from cooking ROMs for the handsets. While CM11 builds are already available for the Moto X, its smaller brother — Moto G — has had to contempt itself with CM10.2 builds, based on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

That changes today with the release of unofficial CM11 build for the Moto G, thanks to the hard work of developer dhacker29.
