Verizon has officially published an HTC Droid DNA update page on its website. According to Big Red, the DNA will receive an update bringing Sense 5, some time in the not-to-distant future.

On Tuesday, September 3, Google’s head of Android and Chrome, Sundar Pichai, confirmed that the next version of Android will not follow the typical generic desert naming system, but will instead be entitled Android 4.4 KitKat. An anonymous source has leaked some crucial information, suggesting that the updated version of the mobile OS will be announced on October 14.

Taking their sweet time about it, Sprint will be following the likes of Verizon Edge, AT&T Next and T-Mobile Jump with an annual update plan all of their own. The plan is called One Up, and it will be available on Sprint the same day the iPhone 5S/5C go on sale: September 20th.

Google is pushing out a new update for its Maps application, which received a rather hefty upgrade not too long ago. This new update makes accessing the navigation screen considerably quicker and easier, with the introduction of a Google Now route and traffic overview card. In addition, the development team at Mountain View HQ has implemented a brand new ‘Tips and Tricks’ section of the app which is accessible via the hamburger menu, mounted on the left-hand side of the screen.

Google has started rolling out an over-the-air update for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition. This upgrade brings the handset up to speed with current Google Play Edition HTC One and Nexus devices running build JWR66Y. Although it does not bring any major software improvements, it’s still quite an important stability update that we would advise all users to download.
