Galaxy-Note-3-KitKat

It’s going to be a good morning for readers in the U.K. who have a Galaxy S4 or Galaxy Note 3, because Samsung has finally starting rolling out its much-anticipated Android 4.4.2 KitKat upgrade. This is the same update that arrived in Germany and other parts of Europe weeks ago, and it brings a number of tasty TouchWiz improvements.

Back in January, HTC introduced the Desire 310 as a brand new ultra-affordable dual-SIM smartphone marked for Europe, however, the Taiwanese company failed to provide any pricing or availability information before now. Earlier today, the Happy Telephone Company announced that the handset will launch in Austria, Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands on April 10 for prices ranging from €150 to €170.

Less than 24 hours after its official announcement in Poland, Samsung’s scaled-down variant of its flagship smartphone, the Galaxy Note 3 Neo, is available to pre-order from German online retailer NotebooksBilliger starting at €499 for the HSPA+ variant, and €529.90 for the LTE+ model, these price tags are a little steep even though the devices come unlocked with no carrier branding.

Customs officials in Stuttgart, Germany, have seized and destroyed 250 counterfeit Galaxy S4 handsets that were set to go on sale in Europe. The devices were picked up at the airport as they entered the country, then demolished one-by-one with a hammer.

Today, Google officially updated its Play Store support page, to notify consumers that it will soon be launching its Google Play gift cards in Japan with ¥1500 ($15), ¥3,000 ($29), ¥5,000 ($49), ¥10,000 ($97), ¥15,000 ($146) and astonishingly ¥20,000 ($195) denominations.
