Just look at that picture. Smartphone vendors are finally make Android handsets beautiful. This is the Grand S, the latest flagship smartphone from Chinese gadget maker ZTE, and it’s the world’s thinnest smartphone to offer a full high-definition, 1080p display. It also packs a quad-core processor, and a 13-megapixel camera.

During the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week, ZTE announced a brand new partnership with Nuance that will bring the company’s famous voice recognition software to ZTE’s upcoming smartphone family. The first devices to offer voice interaction will be launching this year, with support for more than 25 different languages and a new “Car Mode” app designed for use behind the wheel.

ZTE is said to be planning a new 5.7-inch Android phablet that will make its debut on China Mobile, the world’s largest mobile phone operator, either later on the the first quarter or early in the second quarter of 2012. It’s codenamed the P945, and its internal specifications look to be impressive — though you may be a little disappointed with its display.

If you’ve been itching to get your hands on an Android “phablet” with a large display, but you don’t like the look of the hefty price tags demanded by handsets like the Samsung Galaxy Note II, then ZTE may have something special up its sleeve for you. The U887 is a new smartphone that’s been leaked by China’s TENAA, and according to reports, it’s hoping to give budget-minded Android users the chance to own a larger smartphone without paying larger prices.

There’s a good chance your next smartphone’s going to have a 1080p display. Since HTC announced the J Butterfly in Japan a couple months ago, it seems every handset vendor is focused on bringing a full high-definition display to their next flagship. ZTE won’t be an exception, according to the latest rumor, which claims the Chinese company is planning a new 5-inch smartphone called the ZTE Grand S for CES 2013 next month.
