A leaked poster published on Chinese social network Weibo has allegedly revealed the upcoming HTC One M8 EYE ahead of its official unveiling. The device looks identical to the original One M8, seemingly confirming that the only differences between the two will be internal. Rumor has it they will all be focused on its front- and rear-facing cameras.

The HTC One E8 is now available in the U.S. on Sprint. This the slightly cheaper alternative to HTC’s flagship One M8, but it comes with a lot of the same specifications. The biggest difference between the two is that the One E8 has swapped aluminum for a more affordable plastic form factor.

HTC’s One M8 is widely regarded as the finest Android phone you can buy, and it just became the finest Windows Phone, too. Exclusively on Verizon, the “HTC One M8 for Windows” (that’s its long and official name) is just like the original, with BoomSound and a Duo Camera — and it’s just $99 on a two-year contract.

HTC’s plan to launch an even better version of its flagship One M8 this year has been “suspended indefinitely,” according to the ever-reliable @Evleaks.

The One M8 “Prime” was expected to bring a much-improved 16-megapixel UltraPixel camera, a bigger and better display, and a new form factor made from “an exotic material” — but it now appears the original M8 will be HTC’s one and only flagship for 2014.

The One M8 has been on sale for almost two months now, and when it launched, we all assumed this device would be HTC’s flagship smartphone for 2014. But over the past week, it has become apparent that that’s probably not the case. Just like Samsung, HTC is planning a “Prime” version of its latest device that’s going to be even better.

One of its improvements is said to be a new UltraPixel camera with a 16-megapixel sensor, and the leaked image below gives us a peek at what that massive sensor’s going to look like.
