Who knows when Samsung will finally release its Lollipop updates for the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge. But if you own the latter and you’ve had enough of waiting, you can now take matter into your own hands.

A pre-release Android 5.0.1 Lollipop build — made by Samsung with its own TouchWiz user interface — is now available for manual flashing on select Galaxy Note Edge variants.

Samsung knows its users hate TouchWiz, and it’s finally going to do something about it with the Galaxy S6.

Not only will the company’s next-generation user interface be streamlined for performance, but many of its own apps — which are baked in as standard with current devices — are going to become optional downloads you don’t have to install if you don’t want to.

CyanogenMod, one of the biggest and best custom ROMs, now officially supports Samsung Galaxy Note 4 handsets connected to Sprint and T-Mobile. The latest builds will let you ditch TouchWiz for a purer, Lollipop-based Android experience.

Samsung is looking to deliver a more fluid software experience with the Galaxy S6 having finally listened to our complaints about TouchWiz. One of the ways in which it will do that is with a more streamlined operating system, but sources say the South Korean company is also going to max out the handset’s specifications as well just to be sure.
