In a surprise turn of events, ASUS announced a newer Transformer Prime model, the TFT700T. This newer model seems to have numerous identical specs as its original, with the only discernible difference being the new back panel design (to help with GPS issues). There’s also the newer 1920 x 1200 Super IPS+ display and better front facing camera (2MP), but other than that, it’s the Transformer Prime TF201. I’m not entirely sure why the found the need to release such an “upgrade” so soon, and I’m sure this will make many TF201 owners quite unhappy, but I guess we can’t complain about having more choices — can we? Along with the surprising news of a newer Transformer Prime model, we finally get some more information on the ASUS Eee Pad MeMO.

The world’s first quad-core tablet has sure been hard to come by. Almost every stockpile offered has been depleted instantly, leaving feigning customers with wads of cash just waiting to be spent. Well, I’m happy to report that BestBuy.com now has the 32GB Gray ASUS Tranformer Prime in stock and ready to roll. The ASUS Transformer Prime is a true testament of a powerful device at a reasonable price.

Toshiba has plans to go thin this year at CES, and when I mean thin, I mean half as thin as their Toshiba Thrive Android tablet. Toshiba has announced its plans to show off the “World’s thinnest and lightest” tablet and claims the 10.1″ AT200 will only measure in at 7.7mm thick. For whatever reason, Toshiba decided to delay the launch of their 558 gram razor thin tablet until CES, where they plan to show it off alongside their waterproof tablet and 7″ budget tablet.

Acer has announced its plans to launch the Iconia Tab A200, their next 10″ tab offering, into the market on January 15th. The A200 is a Tegra 2 packing tablet with mid range specs but is set to be an early adopter of Ice Cream Sandwich, with a mid-February update in tow. Acer has also priced the A200 to be competitive unlike most tablet manufacturers, and with a $329.99 price, Ice Cream Sandwich, and the following specs, it’s a definite looker:

WiFi Motorola XOOM owners may be in for a treat. Motorola has begun sending out invitations asking “Google Experience” XOOM WiFI owners to participate in a new project. They go on to inform users that the project is confidential and that you must first meet certain requirements to partake in this particular project. It’s all very mysterious, but given the fact that they specifically refer to the XOOM as a “Google Experience” device, it’s highly likely that they are preparing to release the Android 4.0 update and are looking to test it out.
