Sony has this week confirmed its Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade plans for Xperia smartphones and tablets. If you have a recent, high-end Xperia device, then you’ll be eligible for both updates — and you can expect the first to start rolling out “from next month.”

An unlocked version of Sony’s latest budget-friendly mid-range Android-powered smartphone, the Xperia M, is now officially available to purchase in the U.S. for $249.99 (with free shipping) directly from Sony Mobile.

Sony has officially leaked a magnified image of its upcoming flagship smartphone, the Z1 (code-named ‘Honami’), just 3 weeks prior its scheduled launch at the IFA which is due to take place in Berlin, Germany. The picture was tweeted by Sony’s official Xperia account on Twitter, but unfortunately it does not reveal much about the handset. In actual fact, the photo only displays a very elegantly designed power button.

Sony’s affordable entry-level Android smartphone, the Xperia U, is now available to purchase in the U.K. for £124.99 from the popular independent retailer Expansys.

Sony-Xperia-Z-ZL

Leaked press shots have revealed two new Android handsets from Sony Mobile ahead of their official unveiling. They’re called the Xperia Z and the Xperia ZL, but you’ll probably know them best by their code names, Yuga and Odin, which is how they’ve been named in recent reports. Both devices are expected to make their big debut at CES next week.
