Google-Nexus-10Google unveiled its new Nexus 7 on Wednesday, and it’s set to be accompanied by a second-generation Samsung Nexus 10 “in the near future.” That’s according to The Wall Street Journal’s Amir Efrati, who got chatting to Android chief Sundar Pichai after the press event in San Francisco.

Apple just released it’s Q3 2013 earnings report and even though iPhone sales were up to 31.2 million units in the quarter, compared to 26 million last quarter, the company only posted a net profit of $6.9 billion. Samsung on the other hand reported that it made $8.33 billion in profit during the same quarter.

Apple reported a profit of $8.8 billion and $35 billion in revenue in the third quarter of 2012, so profit is still down and revenue growth is flat. The company’s year-over-year net profit shrank for the first time in a decade last quarter.

The Sony Honami, the Japanese company’s next flagship smartphone, has been pictured again ahead of its official unveiling. Many expect this device to be a much-improved Xperia Z, and when you take a look at the shots, it’s easy to see why — it looks almost identical.

Samsung has announced that it will be releasing a special edition Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, entitled the Student Edition. The device will be available in white, as part of a bundle package containing loads of goodies to get any student up on their feet and ready for the next semester.

One carrier recently announced that Samsung was planning to skip the Android 4.2.2 update for the Galaxy Note II and update it to the upcoming Android 4.3 release instead. And it appears the Korean company may have similar plans for the Galaxy S III, which has already been spotted with Android 4.3 onboard.
