Just look at that picture. Smartphone vendors are finally make Android handsets beautiful. This is the Grand S, the latest flagship smartphone from Chinese gadget maker ZTE, and it’s the world’s thinnest smartphone to offer a full high-definition, 1080p display. It also packs a quad-core processor, and a 13-megapixel camera.

Following the announcement of its budget smartphone lineup at CES on Monday, Alcatel has today unveiled the flagship device in its new One Touch family. It’s called the One Touch Scribe X, and in addition to its 1080p display, it offers a quad-core processor, and a 12-megapixel camera.

Just as we expected, Acer has announced a new Android tablet at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas today. Pictures of the device surfaced several hours ago, but we were unable to confirm its specifications or its price tag until Acer made it official. Now we can confirm the device will be targeting the budget end of the market, priced at $150. But is it too expensive?

The Sony Xperia Z, believed to be Sony’s next-generation flagship smartphone, leaked a number of times last week, leading us to believe it would get its grand unveiling at CES in Las Vegas this week. In case you were at all skeptical, here’s a picture of the handset on the CES show floor ahead of Sony’s official announcement later today.

ZTE is said to be planning a new 5.7-inch Android phablet that will make its debut on China Mobile, the world’s largest mobile phone operator, either later on the the first quarter or early in the second quarter of 2012. It’s codenamed the P945, and its internal specifications look to be impressive — though you may be a little disappointed with its display.
