While Google had plans of unveiling the next set of Nexus devices in NYC this Monday, Mother Nature appears to have other plans. Hurricane Sandy threatens to bombard the East Coast with high winds and unrelenting rainfall. Instead of risking lives, Google has made the right decision to cancel the event. We’re uncertain what this means for the launch of the Nexus 4, Nexus 10 and 32GB Nexus, but Google promises to let us know as soon as they make a decision.

Rumors, Rumors, And More Rumors

Over the weekend, the rumor mill was operating at full throttle, predicting everything we can expect to see at Google’s October 29th Android event in NYC. So what do they have planned for us? Well, here’s what seems to be the rumor consensus:

The Nexus rumors have been gushing from every direction these past few days and we couldn’t be more excited. If everything we’ve heard pans out, we’ll see a new era of Nexus devices, with multiple OEMs no longer competing for Google’s approval, but for ours. We’ll soon be able to choose between Nexus devices of various specs made by various manufacturers. With that in mind, I’m now starting to think beyond the once important Vanilla Android experience and timely updates, and focusing more on want I’d like out of the hardware.

We simply love wallpapers. They’re one of the first changes we make to our Android devices and often represent our moods, interests, or wicked alter egos. They’re as unique as the individuals who use them and while some people pick one and stick with it, others change them more often than a teenager’s Facebook status. Each day we’re going to feature a free wallpaper for you to download and use on your Android device. Depending on your device, you may want to use your favorite photo editing software to resize the image for a better fit. Once that’s done, apply and enjoy. Your homescreen can thank us later. Cheers!

We’ve been hearing for a bit now that Google was going to revamp their Nexus program and that we would soon be seeing multiple Nexus devices being manufactured by various OEMs. According to Taylor Wimberly over at Android and Me, those whispers are going to turn to reality very soon, and LG will be the first up to bat.
