We caught our first glimpse of the Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX at CES with its added (but still irremovable) 3300 mAh battery. Instead of making things easy and allowing users the convenience of swapping out batteries, Motorola decided to create an entirely new version of the DROID RAZR, this time with better battery life for the power-sucking 4G LTE. Although everything besides the new battery remained the same, we weren’t given any sort of release date for the MAXX. The keen eyes over at Droid-Life noticed that Motorola wasn’t so coy, and in fact posted a release date of January 26 on their website.

The guys over at Android Police have confirmed that Motorola’s recent “project” for the Motorola XOOM is, in fact, Ice Cream Sandwich. It seems one of the lucky testers didn’t understand the word “confidential” and spilled the beans on the project.

Up until now, no LTE device on Verizon has been able to support global roaming (no, not global warming, global roaming), in part because of a network issues that prevents LTE phones from roaming in non-CDMA markets. There have been various ways to access live TV on your mobile device, my personal choice being Slingplayer, but up until now, you were forced to watch whatever was being played through your main cable feed (or visa versa). Motorola hopes to change all that with their Televation product. With Televation, users will have an independent, dedicated content feed from their cable provider that can be streamed to any connected IP device for viewing across a user’s wireless network. The product was actually announced back in June but they had some demos here at CES to show off just how well it works.

All eyes were on Intel today, and they made a few surprising announcements during their keynote. First off, Intel has announced the first Intel powered smartphone, and the honor (or embarrassment) goes to Lenovo. The Lenovo K800 will be the first Android smartphone to carry the new Intel Atom Z2460 processor as well as a 4.5″ 720p HD display, dual cameras, and Intel wireless display technology. Not much more is known about the device other than the fact that it will be headed to China first. The other big announcement came with a guest appearance by Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha.
