Spotify-new-iPhone

Spotify will today rollout a stunning redesign of its entire app catalog. The company has overhauled its desktop, web, and mobile offerings with entirely new user interfaces that make the content the key focus — and you can take a sneak peak at them now ahead of their release.

Instagram-5-1-Android

Instagram today updated its Android app to introduce a long-awaited design refresh, with “simplified” visuals that match those made available to iOS users last September. The update also brings performance improvements that promise to make the app noticeably faster than before.

HTC-One-max-KitKat

It’s been just over three months since Google made Android 4.4 KitKat available to the public, but only 1.8 percent of Android-powered devices are running it. Jelly Bean continues to have the largest reach with a 60.7 percent share — up from 60.1 percent in January — while Gingerbread’s share is slowly but surely getting smaller.

Instagram-flat

Android hasn’t always been one of the prettiest mobile platforms, but thanks to the design changes Google has made in recent years, it is now. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for some third-party Android apps.

Take Instagram, for example. It still looks like an exact port of Instagram’s iOS app from 2012, and it doesn’t make any efforts to follow Google’s “Holo” design guidelines for the more recent versions of Android. If it did, it could look pretty fantastic — as these fan-made mockups demonstrate.

New-Samsung-TouchWiz-UI

Samsung appears to be working on a major overhaul of its TouchWiz user interface for Android. Leaked screenshots of the new interface — which sports a new lock screen and colorful new icons — surfaced on Twitter today, and it’s though this year’s Galaxy S5 could be the first handset to get it.
