HTC will begin rolling out its Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for unlocked One M8 handsets “within 24 hours.” Those with a locked, carrier-branded device will have to wait until early next year.

In an effort to keep its biggest fans on its side, HTC is inviting them to provide their feedback on upcoming products before they hit the market.

With the HTC Preview program, the Taiwanese company will give “exclusive members” the opportunity to take a sneak peek at future devices and software updates — then provide their thoughts and ideas.

It may be arriving a little later than originally promised, but Android 6.0 Marshmallow is now on its way to the HTC One M8 Google Play Edition. Users can look forward to using what is essentially the same software now shipping with Google’s latest Nexus smartphones.

Before he made The Martian, Ridley Scott directed the most iconic Apple ad in history with the classic 1984 Macintosh commercial.

So what better way to set yourself apart from Apple as a rival smartphone maker than to… completely rip off ideas Apple was circulating thirty-odd years ago? Yeah, we don’t get it either.

At $399, HTC’s new One A9 is more affordable than most flagship smartphones off-contract — but it’s still not in the same bracket as devices like the OnePlus 2. And it’s only going to get more expensive.

HTC mentioned during its One A9 unveiling that this price tag was a “limited time promotional offer,” and that ends when the device makes its official debut on November 7 — at which point, HTC will add another $100 to the One A9’s price tag.
