A few crafty HTC Vivid owners have been able to pull down the Ice Cream Sandwich update thanks to a little dialer trick. A forum member over at Android Central was surprised to find Ice Cream Sandwich and Sense 3.6 waiting for him after performing a system update by dialing *#*#682#*#* . Quite a few people have since had success using the same method while others say the number just disappears from the screen when they try to dial it. Either way, it’s worth a shot to have Ice Cream Sandwich running on your Vivid ahead of most other devices.

When HTC unveiled their One series of phones, their wasn’t much info about the One V. They told us about its Legend design (which I don’t really care for) and at MWC they showed us a charcoal-colored version that wasn’t quite ready to be powered on. We now know the HTC One V is expected to be an entry level device and thanks to Japanese site Blog of Mobile, we also know it will come in a variety of other colors.

Yesterday HTC posted an update on the progress of their Ice Cream Sandwich rollouts. Ice Cream Sandwich has already started rolling out to a limited number of HTC Sensation and Sensation XE users and should see more widespread distribution in the next couple weeks. The Sensation 4G and Sensation XL will soon follow, after that, it’s anyone’s guess. However, HTC has listed all the devices expected to recieve Android 4.0 and they are as follows:

Future owners of the HTC One S can kiss third-party protective cases goodbye thanks to aircraft grade aluminum and a process called micro arc oxidation. HTC wanted to push the limits with their new “One” series of devices and using this MAO process on the One S gives it a unique durability and strength three times greater than that of stainless steel. Is this type of durability necessary for a consumer phone? HTC thinks so — and so do I!

When HTC unveiled their future lineup of top-tier smartphones at Mobile World Congress, they heavily boasted about the phone’s camera. They claimed it would rival any digital camera and that it would deliver a camera experience in a way never seen on phones before. They made a pretty big deal over their new ImageSense software as well as the custom ImageChip, f/2.0 lens, HDR technology, and super fast capture. The incessant hype led to a wave of praise and anticipation. Users instantly began dreaming of the professional headshot profiles they’d be posting to Facebook. Kidding aside, they did make it sound awesome, and when they posted a set of pictures from the HTC One X to Facebook, it validated our praise.
