The iPad Mini was announced today, and frankly, it missed the mark. The iPad Mini will simply have no effect on non-Apple users. Apple needed to go $299 or less to make the iPad Mini seep into consumers heads and play devil’s advocate. At $329, that simply isn’t going to happen.

Rumors, Rumors, And More Rumors

Over the weekend, the rumor mill was operating at full throttle, predicting everything we can expect to see at Google’s October 29th Android event in NYC. So what do they have planned for us? Well, here’s what seems to be the rumor consensus:

It seems financial printer RR Donnelley made one hell of mistake earlier today, causing Google’s stock to drop 9% before Google was able to halt trading. What did they do? They filed an early draft of Google’s earnings without authorization.

Looks like “the playground is open.” That’s been Google catchphrase with the Nexus 7 and now it looks like Google will be expanding that playground with an event in NYC on October 29. The invite resembles Jelly Bean’s Google Now feature, so we’re guessing this event will have something to do with a Nexus and possibly an updated version of Jelly Bean. Maybe we’ll finally hear more about the whole “Nexus program” that’s been floating around. And there’s always the 32GB Nexus?

I know many of you have been searching high and low for Google Play gift cards with little to no success. Depending on your motive, Google may have a solution for you. If you’re simply looking to gift some Google Play credit to a friend, relative, etc., then you’re still out of luck. If you’re looking to purchase credit for your kids or someone you share an account with, then you’re in luck. Google now allows U.S. users to purchase Play Store credit directly from the Play Store (web only).
